Edward Joseph
Although Edward Joseph is better known today as a painter of distinctive and rather unusual landscapes of the rapidly disappearing wetlands of Long Island, his roots are deeply grounded in his early interest in surrealism. That love of surrealism can still be found lurking just below the surface in many of his landscapes. While the landscapes are often quite colorful and peaceful there is often an underlying feeling of dread and mystery contained within.

The development of digital image processing has created a new environment in which Edward Joseph can create fresh and new manifestations of his surrealist imagery. While the process of creating an image digitally is quite different from creating an image through more conventional means the final objective remains the same, which is, to produce a visual realization of an idea or concept designed to elicit a response in those viewing the image.
